"For over 20 years, the Vaad has supervised over 600 kosher catering events, over 120 home-grown farms and food production companies, countless start-up and trial restaurants and eateries, and taught and trained hundreds of people in the World of Kosher as well as being the Northern California resource for Travelers for all things Jewish!"

6 Things You May Not Know About The Vaad

  • We began the Vaad of Northern California to raise the standards of kosher observance in the area.
  • We wanted East to become West. We wanted that the same conveniences we had in Brooklyn, would be found in Berkeley, in Fresno, in San Francisco, and in Tahoe!
  • We wanted the hundreds of thousands of Jews living in Northern California to have kosher access to the "Breadbasket of America" which is Northern California. From Almonds to Olives, to Grapes to Lettuce, the wonders that grow among us and the bountiful harvests that feed the rest of the world should be experienced with the highest level of kosher supervision.
  • We wanted that the local Rabbis, the local lay leaders, the local observant community that make kosher happen here, be known to their own neighborhoods, and live in the surrounding climates.
  • We wanted to make affordable and realistic Kosher catering, from Weddings to Bat Mitzvahs, from Brissim to Board Meetings, from Universities to Senior Centers. Restaurants, Bakeries, all kinds of food producing companies.
  • The Vaad has made it happen. For over 20 years, the Vaad has supervised over 600 kosher catering events, over 120 home-grown farms and food production companies, countless start-up and trial restaurants and eateries, and taught and trained hundreds of people in the World of Kosher as well as being the Northern California resource for Travelers for all things Jewish!

Help us continue to grow in all things Kosher! Do a mitzvah before the end of the tax season that will have lasting and longreaching effects. Increase in acts of goodness and kindness to our own Northern Californians, and help us appreciate what we have and what we continue to be able to give. The Vaad is a non-profit organiztion (501 c-3)
